WFNU is a community governed and operated organization committed to democracy and universal representation. Our Advisory, Programming, Technology, and Community Engagement Committees-- comprised of WFNU programmers, volunteers, and Frogtown community members, are the lifeblood of the station.
These committees are responsible for making policy decisions and maintaining WFNU's mission of amplifying our diverse communities, rather than speaking for them. WFNU's limited staff serves this mission through organizing the committee meetings and implementing their decisions in day-today operations.
The Advisory Committee is the main decision making body of WFNU, and is responsible for making important large decisions about things like funding, conflict resolution, staffing, etc... It is our own community board of directors. Meetings are generally held on the first Saturday of the month at the studio.
The programming committee plans training for new djs, reviews program proposals, and approves new music for the station library. They also plan and implement special broadcast events like election day coverage, or our all day Prince Tribute. Meetings are generally held the first Sunday of the month.
The technology committee overseas issues related to our equipment, program archive, podcasts, website, and computer skills training. This group also administers our Open Studio Hours program, which invites community members to record announcements and other content with the help of our more experienced volunteer broadcast engineers. Meetings generally held every other month, check the calendar for upcoming meetings.
Community Engagement Committee
The community engagement committee plans outreach events and publicity. This includes organizing volunteers for tabling at community events, setting up live dj nights, etc...
Meets every few months depending on necessity, check the calendar for the next meeting.
